XSDL Basics (outdated)
How XSDL was used to show an Andronix distro's desktop. Outdated, because Andronix 2.0 is built and tested for VNC. Kept for existing installs.
This page is outdated
These steps were written for distros from the pre-2.0 installer, and haven't been tested with Andronix 2.0. For new installs, use Termux:X11, which does the same job (a fast X11 display on the phone) and is set up by andronix desktop, or VNC.
XSDL is an X Window System (X11) server for Android. X11 servers are generally faster than VNC, but XSDL lacks the polished interface a VNC viewer might have. Which one you use comes down to your preference and what suits you best. This page shows how to start your distro's desktop with XSDL.
How to start an XSDL server?
- Download and install the XSDL app from the Play Store.
- Open XSDL and wait until it finishes starting up.
- Start your distro, then run this command inside the distro's shell to send its desktop to XSDL:
export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0 && bash ~/.vnc/xstartup &If you're on a Wi-Fi network and want to access XSDL from other devices, use this command instead:
export DISPLAY=192.168.0.100:0 && bash ~/.vnc/xstartup &Next steps

- Installing a Distro: set up a distro to use with XSDL.
- Desktop Environments: choose the interface you'll see in XSDL.
- Fixing Sound: get audio working in your distro.
