Open-Source Components of the App

The open-source libraries the Andronix app uses to run Linux without Termux (proot, talloc, libandroid-shmem, virglrenderer, libepoxy), their licenses, where their source code is, and our written offer.

The Andronix app runs Linux distros without Termux using these native libraries. Each app release lists the exact versions; for this release:

LibraryComponentVersionLicense
libproot.so, libproot-loader.soproot (Termux's fork)5.1.107.96GPL-2.0
libtalloc.sotalloc2.5.0LGPL-3.0-or-later

libvirgl.sovirglrenderer (with our Android patch), libepoxy1.3.0, 1.5.10MIT

Where the source is

The GitHub release standalone-2.1.0 (Andronix 10.1) has, for exactly the libraries in this app version:

  • the unmodified source archives of proot, talloc and libandroid-shmem;
  • the virglrenderer and libepoxy archives and virglrenderer-android.patch, our only change to any of these components;
  • SHA256SUMS for those files and for the six libraries in the app, and build.json with the versions;
  • the license texts.

For the 10.1 beta (10.1.0-beta17), the same files are in the release standalone-2.1.0-dev26.

The scripts that build the libraries, with every build setting, are in the repository's standalone/ folder at that release's tag. The build is reproducible: following standalone/README.md gives the same files, byte for byte, as those in the app.

Written offer

For at least three years after we last distribute a given app version, Andronix will give anyone who asks a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code of the GPL and LGPL components above, on a medium customarily used for software interchange or by download, for a charge no more than the cost of physically performing the distribution. Write to support@andronix.app and name the app version (Settings, About).

talloc (LGPL)

libtalloc.so is a separate shared library in the app, loaded by proot at run time, not linked into it.
